Our sailings all occurred at night and, for the most part, covered only small distances. After a long day of walking around Venice and a much-deserved rest, we awoke the next morning in the city of Koper, Slovenia, a seaport south of Trieste. Our beautiful and knowledgeable guide Alissa took us on a two-part tour: first the city of Koper, with its beautiful river and bridges.

Bridges such as the Dragon Bridge (locally known as "the Mother-in-Law Bridge!")From there we went by bus to Lake Bled, a resort and vacation town for Slovenians, as well as many who come to visit it for its weather, skiing and lake activities. When Marshall Tito ruled this region as dictator of the former Yugoslavia, he had a special dessert developed for him: Cream Cake or Krema Rezina.

Mmmmmmmm!!!

But if you make it, you MUST call us over!
Boating on Lake Bled |
A castle sits atop the hill overlooking Lake Bled, along with a beautiful little church (where we found our Slovenian geocache.) Slovenia was a wonderful surprise, as were all of the countries on our cruise. We'd love to go back and visit longer. A trip like this merely introduces you to new places. Our knowledge of them is far from exhaustive (though we were fairly exhausted by the end of it! )
