Alexander Keith-Halifax Brewmaster

After a restful morning we spent part of the afternoon visiting one of the harborfront's most famous sites: Alexander Keith's Brewery. It was built in 1820 by Mr.Keith, who had immigrated from Scotland. The brewery, the oldest working brewery in North America, offers a fun tour, with guides in period clothing who sing, play and generally entertain you as they guide. Today's brewmaster explains the processes that occur in the production of their beers. Mr. Keith was a renowned citizen who served on many local boards as well as three terms as Mayor of Halifax. And he's still here:

We spend time on our walks in the parks, enjoying the scenery and looking for geocaches. We search high and low! We found one here and near the
local statue honoring every Scot's favorite son poet: Robert Burns.

Halifax Public Gardens are another favorite walking park for the locals ("Haligonians" for you crossword fans.)

The Tall Ships are coming! That's the next post!
