Charlottetown...the Capital

On Monday July 2 we visited Charlottetown, the capital city of PEI. It's a nice modern city with a bayside wharf area. We walked through Province House, shown here, where the provincial government meets. The speaker's chair and dais is shown below, and dates back a hundred years or so. Charlottetown is the location where the Confederation meetings took place which formed the provinces into "Canada."

We spent part of the day at Orwell Corner, a reconstructed PEI village of former times. We found this signpost directing us to important spots in the area, and stopped in this small inn and had tea and sandwiches with Kaley.
We finished up the day at the Confederation Centre in Charlottetown enjoying "Anne...the Musical!", running here since 1967. It was a wonderful mix of song, dance and, of course, the great story! Thoroughly enjoyable and a must-see if you're ever here.
