Hanging Lake

As you travel on I-70 on the way from Denver to Glenwood Springs, you come to an exit labeled Hanging Lake. The trail begins near this part of the river which runs alongside the interstate.

You can leave the highway and your car at that point and climb a 1.2 mile trail along a mountain stream to this beautiful small collection of water, the Hanging Lake, on the side of the mountain. It is fed by waterfalls and has many small trout in its crystal-clear waters. It's a fairly strenuous hike that takes around 3 hours roundtrip.

If you go around and above the lake, you come to "Spouting Rock", a natural spring on the side of the mountain that spurts water continuously.
Ah, Colorful Colorado!
